Teacher

DSCN0932Thirty years ago I rode my bicycle across the U.S. and discovered Eastern Oregon’s natural beauty. I was struck by the untouched vastness of it all. I made the choice to live here and devote my life to teaching the children of Oregon. My passion for the profession resulted in being selected as Oregon’s Teacher of the Year in 2008.

Each day teachers across our state pour their hearts out to educate future generations of scientists, farmers, and entrepreneurs in the hope that they will live rewarding, happy lives. Teaching is not an easy job, nor is the economics of managing land for everyone to enjoy. The balance we seek must keep our children’s future at the top of our priorities. We need wilderness like the Owyhee Canyonlands preserved forever so that generations to come will know Oregon as we have.
