Klamath County, Oregon

Jayne Goodwin

Jayne Goodwin Fort RockI’ve spent nearly my entire life in Oregon — in Deschutes County, in Wasco County, and settling in Klamath County for the last 38 years.  For all of those years, my favorite places to birdwatch, camp, canoe, fish, hike and ride my horses have been our public lands.

Time spent in Owyhee Canyonlands has given me many memorable good times — camping at Three Forks and Succor Creek, canoeing and fishing in Owyhee Reservoir, hiking near Leslie Gulch.

I want the Owyhee to remain unspoiled. Protection would do that, keeping out mining and oil and gas development that would disturb the landscape while allowing appropriate traditional uses to continue.  We are so lucky to have a place like the Owyhee – wide-open, filled with wildlife and belonging to all of us. We have a responsibility to future generations to keep it that way.
